A transition from tradition to contemporaneity.
PUERTA NEGRA (Black Door) is a multi-disciplinary project created by Catalina Quintana. A project that explores and communicates art, photography, design, literature, architecture and any form of creation through fashion.

The brand takes a specific interest in processes, concept developement, research, the anatomy of ideas and the growth in-between final outcomes and communicating through statement wearable pieces, handmade from high quality materials, each being part of a bigger narrative.

The name of the project, PUERTA NEGRA, is the name of the house where Catalina grew up, being also the home of her family for more than three generations. As she explains it, it’s her sacred space, a space that holds all her childhood memories. So, for the logotype, I had a clear vision to create a narrative of her story just made with typography.

The two typefaces work as a transition, from the idea of a door separating two spaces. The sans-serif one, a strong and simple typography, defines the memories and experiences that Catalina had in her house and have created a path into the inspiration of her project. The serif one, a modern, expressive and characteristic typography, defines this new and modern view that Puerta Negra has gave to her to create an original, creative and contemporary project.
